Seventeen Cosmetology II students from Grant Career Center, supervised by senior instructor Sue Goodman opened their salon for business Tuesday, Sept. 15. Current salon hours are Tuesdays through Fridays 11:30 a.m. – 2:15 p.m.
The salon offers a wide variety of services, including haircuts, color, perms, waxes, facials, and manicures. Conditioning treatments, highlights, lowlights, shampoos, and sets are also available.
Grant Career Center Cosmetology students Kristen Morgan
and Christy Smith get their supplies ready as they prepare
for clients in the salon.
For an appointment, clients should call (513) 734-6222.
The salon provides students with exposure to clients and with practical experience to help them pass their state boards and prepare for the work world.
"Working in the salon gives me practical experience and a chance to perfect my technical skills as well as working with many different people," cosmetology senior Christy Smith said. "It is a great preparation for my State Board exam at the end of the year."
Senior Cosmetology students having worked in the salon during their junior year, enter their senior year experienced and confident. Senior Kristen Moran loves working in the salon creating new looks for the clients.
"I like being able to talk to the clients and to make them feel good when they leave," Moran said.
Many clients have been visiting the Grant Career Center salon for years.
"It's like a family reunion, getting reacquainted with the clients," Goodman said. "I really miss them in the summer and look forward to hearing about their vacations, weddings, etc. I am looking forward to another successful year."
Goodman and the Cosmetology students are eager to see former clients and welcome new ones. They invite the public to stop in and find a beautiful new look.
