There have been many books about World War II fallen heroes and one of those relates the wartime experiences of Easy Company, which was part of 101st Airborne Division. The book “Band of Brothers” written by Stephen Ambrose tells about the lives of some of the men who served in Easy Company.

An Amelia man, Harold Webb, was a member of that company and he was 19 when he lost his life while in combat in Belgium. It’s uncertain just how his helmet ended up in England, but Chris Freeman discovered the helmet when he was 12-years-old.

“I saw the helmet being used as a drip pan for a tractor on a farm,” said Freeman. “I went back later and retrieved it, hiding it under my coat and taking it home.”
