Wayne R. Barthel, 86, of Mt. Orab, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009, in Mt. Orab. He was born May 15, 1923, in Stockton, Ill. the son of Fred A. and Delcie V. Royston Barthel.
Mr. Barthel was a member of Mt. Orab United Methodist Church and Gideons International. He was a self employed business owner. He was the former owner of Bethel Tire and Oil Co. and WB Distributing in Mt. Orab.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Rev. Randy Barthel and Rebecca Elizabeth Barthel and one sister, Lois Barthel.
He is survived by his wife, jean Barthel, of Mt. Orab; three sons, Rev. Michael (Mary) Barthel, of Harrison, Joseph (Mary) Barthel and Chris (Beth) Barthel, of Mt. Orab and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held July 11, at Mt. Orab United Methodist Church.
Interment at Mt. Orab Cemetery, in Green Township.
