The Bethel community could get a boost from the county with the Neighborhood Stabilization Program, according to Jim Taylor, grant coordinator for the Clermont County planning department. Taylor spoke about the program during the Bethel Council meeting on Monday, July 13.

“We were looking for the highest foreclosure rates in the county and Bethel is one of the target areas,” said Taylor. “There are also a large number of foreclosures in Amelia and the eastern part of Union Township. We also noticed a large number in the Goshen and Loveland areas but the three target areas are Bethel, Amelia and eastern Union Township.”

According to Taylor, the Neighborhood Stabilization Program is not a low income program. It is a rehabilitation program for houses which have been foreclosed on and vacant for three months. Applicants will have to apply for a loan to purchase a home through the program.
