Clermont County Sheriff’s deputies and Monroe Township EMS officials were dispatched to a residence on Frank Willis Memorial Road, in New Richmond around 9 p.m. Sunday, June 28. The caller reported a possible drowning.

The victim was Evan James Dell, 3, of Wilmington. He and his parents, Tina and Greg Dell, of Wilmington, had been visiting with his grandparents, Teresa and Gee Fuller, since Friday, June 26.

A sheriff’s report states that the family had a get-together at the residence on Frank Willis Memorial Road on Sunday for a friend who had recently returned home from military training.

The event started at approximately 6 p.m. with several children, including Evan Dell, swimming in an above ground pool while under adult supervision. The pool had been cleared and the swimming had ended for the children and they were off playing in other areas of the yard.

Authorities say that it appears at some point Evan Dell went back to the pool undetected. He was later found under the water by an adult who had gone back to the pool to swim.

Individuals at the scene administered CPR, Monroe Township EMS responded and notified AirCare, but the victim was pronounced dead before he could be transported to the hospital.

His body was taken to the Hamilton County Coroner’s office for an autopsy.
