Wayne E. Baughman, 63, of Anderson Township died Thursday, May 7, 2009 after a battle with ocular melanoma cancer.

Baughman served as the director of Leadership Development programming for Clermont 20/20, Inc., which included the LEAD Clermont adult program, the LOOK to Clermont High School program for juniors and seniors, the LIVE Clermont senior citizens program, and the Clermont Connections Young Professionals initiative that was started by Clermont 20/20 in 2008.

“Wayne was the type of person who was really interested in how he could help someone else achieve something that was important to them in their life,” said Andy McCreanor, Executive Director of Clermont 20/20. “Wayne knew the value and importance of people in building and creating quality of life. He was enthusiastic and provided a lot of encouragement to individuals who attend our leadership programs at Clermont 20/20. He will be missed because he had a sense of purpose in his life and had a positive impact on people in general,” McCreanor said.

Baughman retired from the United States Air Force in 1990 as a Major. After retirement, he founded Creative Presentations, a communications and training business, and in April 2007 went to work at Clermont 20/20 as the Director, Leadership Development.

Baughman was an active member of Newtown United Methodist Church, a 52-year veteran with the Boy Scouts of America where he received numerous awards including the Silver Beaver and, most recently, The Medal of Meritorious Conduct, awarded at the discretion of Belize Scout Head Quarters, to the same categories of recipients as are eligible for gallantry awards for conduct involving a high degree of courage, endurance, initiative or devotion to duty.

He was involved in Toastmasters International for over 25 years where he received the Distinguished Toastmaster award, Accredited Speaker Award, and the Communication and Leadership award, among other recognitions, and was a board member of the MPA program at Northern Kentucky University.

Born April 21, 1946, in Findlay, Ohio, Baughman graduated from Findlay High School in 1964 and received an AA and BA in Humanities from the University of Cincinnati and a MA in Counseling from St. Mary’s University.

Baughman is survived by Linda, his wife of 31 years and two children, Allison Chandler (Joe) and Andrew Baughman of Cincinnati. He is also survived by grandsons Nick, Nolan, and Danny Chandler, and Madison, Chelsea and Graham Koenig who call him grandpa.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, May 23, at the Anderson Hills United Methodist Church at Beechmont and Forest Avenues, Anderson.
