Batavia Township Administrator Rex Parsons reported to township trustees regarding the need for hiring additional personnel in the service department at the meeting on Monday, May 4.

He had a breakdown of summer and winter hours worked in the department. In 2008, the department worked a total of 7,254 man hours. The hours are expected to increase in 2009 to 8,785. Parsons showed the board that a full-time employee would cost the township $31.71 per hour which included a benefits package.

“My recommendation is to hire a full-time employee for the grass cutting for old state route 32 and Clough Pike,” said Parsons. “And I would also like to recommend hiring a seasonal employee who would help with snow removal.”
