Former township trustee Debbie Clepper addressed the Batavia Township Board of Trustees regarding the progress of the Williamsburg-Batavia Hike Bike Trail April 7.

The planned 13-mile trail, which will reach from Williamsburg through East Fork State Park, into the campgrounds and end in Batavia, has been 10 years in planning. According to Clepper, the organizers are starting to see progress.

“The section out of Williamsburg is complete. It has been cleared and surfaced and it looks great,” said Clepper. “In about two weeks the bridge will be erected over Cain Run Creek. It will be brought in two sections and placed over the creek with the use of a very large crane. The cost of the bridge was less than we expected, so there will be money to do more work on the trail. The next phase will take the trail into the campground and is expected to begin in 2010.”
