It has been nine years in preparation, but Clermont County and other western Ohio counties on the route are very close to having signs erected and information published pertaining to the John Hunt Morgan Heritage Trail.

The Ohio Civil War Trail Commission was formed in 2000, the year of Clermont County’s Bicentennial celebration.

The Heritage Trail was one of numerous projects established to celebrate Ohio’s Bicentennial during the year 2003. It is the last commission of the Ohio Bicentennial to still be completing its work.

Richard Crawford, co-founder of the Clermont County Bicentennial observance (along with the late William Over), was asked to be Clermont County’s representative on the John Hunt Morgan Heritage Trail Board due to having written a book and giving numerous tours on Morgan’s Raid through Clermont County and his position as Clermont County Historian.
