Council members from the Village of Williamsburg heard a presentation from Becky McClatchey during their meeting Thursday, Feb. 26. McClatchey is the coordinator of the East Fork Watershed collaborative and is seeking the possible removal of the Williamsburg low head dam on the East Fork River. According to McClatchey, removal of the dam would restore the natural habitat, improve water quality, increase fish movement and improve aesthetics. McClatchey believes that fishing would improve, recreational activities could increase and taxpayers could save money.
