Participation by older adults in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly known as Food Stamps) increased by 16 percent over the past year. Participation in the meals-on-wheels program offered by Clermont Senior Services has also continued to grow, with a 19 percent increase in the number of meals served annually over the past five year. In 2008 nearly 153,000 meals were delivered to over 1200 homebound older adults throughout Clermont County.

As the older population grows, especially among persons age 75 and over, there is a naturally occurring increase in need for these and other services to help frail older adults continue to live at home. But today
