Michael John Sabota, 88, of Stonelick Township, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, in Stonelick Township. Mr. Sabota retired from the United States Navy after serving during World War II, the Korean War and in Vietnam.
Eleanore Dial, 79
Eleanore Maxwell Dial, 79, of Batavia, died Jan. 18, 2009. Mrs. Dial had been a professor of Spanish at Iowa State University before her retirement. A memorial service is planned 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Faith United Methodist Church, 180 North Fifth Street, Batavia.

The Reverend Joseph Peter Andres, 87 of Milford, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, in Mariemont. He was a retired priest. Funeral services were held Feb. 6, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, in Montgomery.

Virginia Shoupe, 62, of Milford, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, in Milford. She was an independent representative for Bigg’s Grocery Store.
Thelma Barat, 97
Thelma Lenora Barat, 97, of Milford, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, in Milford. Mrs. Barat had been self-employed as a baby sitter. Private graveside services were held at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Frances Cook, 78
Frances J. Cook, 78, of Winchester, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at Christ Hospital, in Cincinnati. Private services were held at the convenience of the family.
William Goodman, 90
William H. Goodman, 90, of Amelia, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, in Amelia. Funeral services were held Feb. 14 at Evans Funeral Home. Interment at Greenlawn Cemetery, in Milford.
Raymond Tonnis, 84
Raymond M. Tonnis, 84, formerly of Milford, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, in Cincinnati. Mass of Christian Burial was held Feb. 13, at St. Andrew Church, in Milford. Interment at Vera Cruz Cemetery, in Brown County.
Judy Pearson, 60
Judy C. Pearson, 60, of Amelia, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009. Funeral services were held Feb. 13, at E.C. Nurre Funeral Home, in Amelia. Interment at Pierce Township Cemetery.
Batavia village administrator resigns
Batavia Village Administrator Bob Stewart has decided to resign his position and retire from government service. A letter of resignation was delivered to council members and the mayor Feb. 9. Stewart listed several reasons for his decision to resign.
