Howard E. Oliver, 97, of Union Township, formerly of Mt. Orab, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, in Batavia. He was born Aug. 23, 1911, in Elizabeth, Tenn., the son of Oscar C. and Mamie Oliver.

Mr. Oliver was a local farmer on Bodman Road for 50 years. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed woodworking.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Oliver; two brothers, Robert Oliver and Harry Oliver and two sisters, Burnie Penn and Annie Tillett.

He is survived by one daughter, Diana Chadwell, of Atlanta, Ga.; three grandchildren, Tracy Levine, Shawn Chadwell and Jessica Hager; five great grandchildren, Adrian, Eric and Alex Levine and Thomas and Arwyn Hager; four brothers, Jacob Oliver, of Washington Courthouse, Bill Oliver, of Cypress, Texas, Walter Oliver, of Hillsboro and Charles Oliver, of Carnsville, Ga.; three sisters, Beulah Murphy, of Naples, Fla., Laura Davis, of Fort Myers, Fla. and Betty Green, of Sardinia.

Visitation will be held 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at Megie Funeral Home, in Mt. Orab.

Funeral services will be held following the visitation, at the funeral home.

Interment at Mt. Orab Cemetery, in Green Township.
