The Batavia Village Council has decided to lower the village administrator’s pay.

A motion to reduce Village Administrator Bob Stewart’s pay to $25,000 per year was made by councilwoman Kathy Turner at council’s Feb. 2 meeting. Turner cited the village’s tight budget and overtime expenses due to the recent snow storms before making the motion.

“I’m not sure how long we will be paying a full-time administrator,” Turner said. “I would like to make a motion to set the administrator’s salary at $25,000 plus benefits, seeing as his contract has expired.”

Stewart has been working under the terms of his expired contract since Dec. 1.
