Bonnie Molitor, 65

Bonnie Rose Molitor, 65, of Milford, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, in Milford. She was a registered nurse for Beechwood Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Dec. 29, at St. Andrew Church, in Milford.

Paul Sturgill, 55

Paul Sturgill, 55, of Owensville, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008. He was the police chief for the Village of Owensville and served as a part time officer for the Williamsburg Police Department.

Shoplifter caught, charged for theft, drug paraphernalia

On Dec. 22, Union Township plain clothes police officers Chad Lutson and Chad Bullock responded to Walmart after receiving a call from an officer with Walmart loss prevention. He reported that a man wearing camouflage overalls and a black jacket left the store on foot after shoplifting items from the store.

Advance America robbed

An Amelia clerk was robbed Friday, Dec. 19. An employee at Advance America, located 1218 State Route 125, in Amelia, was closing the store just before 7 p.m. when a man entered through the front door and demanded money, according to Clermont County Sheriff A. J. “Tim” Rodenberg.

Whooping cough outbreak strikes Clermont County

A significant number of whooping cough (pertussis) cases are being reported across Clermont County. While the cases are being reported in various age groups, most are in children between the ages of seven and 11.

Crisis Hotline staffed by certified counselors

More than 30,000 people in the United States die by suicide each year, averaging 82 per day and 1,200 Ohioans die by suicide each year. There are almost twice as many suicides as there are homicides.

Health Department recommends flu shots

The flu season is upon us and the Clermont County Health Department reminds those who have not yet received a flu shot that it is not too late to do so. With a good supply of vaccine this year, the shots will be available well into January.

Authorities looking for child porn suspect

Police are looking for a Clermont County man in connection with a possible case of child pornography. A computer repair shop contacted Bethel Police when they found images on a computer belonging to John Kopkowski. The computer was brought to the shop by Kopkowski.

Police warn against impaired driving

Ohio’s roadways are safer this year because of the diligence of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and local law enforcement officers, but the holiday period that spans from the day before Thanksgiving to Jan. 2, is typically when officers see the most crashes as a result of individuals operating vehicles while impaired.

Owensville Police Chief dies in crash

Residents in the Village of Owensville are dealing with the loss of their police chief of 17 years. Chief Paul Sturgill, 55, was killed Tuesday, Dec. 23, as a result of a crash at the interchange of I-75 and I-64 in Lexington, Ky. Sturgill was returning home from Tennessee where he had picked up his mother, Alma Sturgill, to spend the holidays with his family.
