CNE wins ‘Burg’s Bob Guy Invite – Simpson is MVP; New Richmond dominating mat foes

Clermont Northeastern won the annual Bob Guy Williamsburg High School Wrestling Invitational Tournament. The Rockets (CNE) racked up 234.5 points, Loveland (Love) 221, Batavia (Bat) 204.5, North College Hill (NCH) 172, Jackson (Jack) 154, Mason (Mas) 105, Hughes (Hug) 87, Lockland (Lock) 75, McClain (McC) 74.5, Mariemont (Mar) 68, and Williamsburg (Wms) 51.5.

Joe Ammerman of Amelia has been keeping pace in an incredibly fast-growing sport in both participants and fans. All the numbers continue to increase – competitors, viewers, and Ammerman’s victory total.

Goshen boys surprise by winning first three

Goshen has been throwing a surprise party for its fans and its unsuspecting adversaries. The Warriors have been defeating all of their opponents and all have been on the road. Goshen began with a victory in Mt. Orab over a pre-season favorite to win the Southern Buckeye Conference American Division, Western Brown. The visitors led at the end of each quarter 12-9, 27-22, and 49-46.

Bethel-Tate High School Sports Hall of Fame adds six Tigers to its membership

Bethel-Tate High School (BTHS) is adding six members to its sports hall of fame. Don Beach (class of 1967) is currently living in Kimball, Ne. He and his wife of 39 years, Carol, are the parents of Carl (33 years of age) and Elizabeth (30). He is a physical education instructor and has coached football, boys and girls basketball, baseball, volleyball, track and field, and boys and girls softball.

Hill students present program for grandparents

Grandparents in the Bethel Tate School District were treated to a special show featuring Hill Intermediate third, fourth and fifth grade students Friday, Dec. 12. The students, under the direction of Connie Crissman and Marcie Patrick, presented “The Sounds of Children.”

Literacy Council raises funds to continue training

An auction fund-raiser was held to benefit the Literacy Council of Clermont and Brown counties Thursday, Dec. 11, at the Live Oaks Vocational School, in Milford. The Literacy Council is a not-for-profit volunteer agency which provides one-on-one reading, writing and spelling education skills to adults in Clermont and Brown counties. Most of the adults who are tutored have lived with reading challenges all of their lives.
