Old Boston Pizza opens for business in Owensville

Old Boston Pizza is now open in Owensville. Opened Nov. 19, the pizzeria, which is owned by Owensville residents Mike and Marilyn Fetter, is in the heart of Owensville, located in the strip mall at 227 West Main Street.

Robbery suspects arrested

The Clermont County Sheriff’s Office is reporting the arrest of Brent Fischer and Anthony McGowan in the attempted robbery of Mike’s Pharmacy in Batavia. At approximately 11:46 a.m. Nov. 30, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Mike’s Batavia Pharmacy, located at 2234 Bauer Road in Batavia Township.

Provisional ballots put Milford levy over top

Pending the results of an official recount this week, the 5.5 mill Milford Exempted School District levy has passed. On Nov. 25, the Clermont County Board of Elections certified that the Milford school levy, which was thought to be narrowly defeated on Election Day, has now passed by a margin of only 46 votes.

Local soldiers honored

Sergeant Michael Mather and Corporal Justin Kieffer were honored and recognized by the Clermont County Board of Commissioners Dec. 3. Mather, 28, enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1999 after graduating from William Henry Harrison High School.

‘Safer Seniors’ launched

The Amelia Village Police Department has partnered with the recently formed Amelia Senior Support Commission to help in enhancing the quality of life for all of the senior citizens who reside in the village.

Christmas lights return to Amelia

For the first time in five years, the village of Amelia will enjoy Christmas decorations. While installing the light decorations along Main Street last week, Amelia Public Works Supervisor Wayne Allison said that residents, who have been wondering about the absence of holiday lights for years now, are receiving an early Christmas gift this year.

Mocktail event promotes safe fun

Clermont County Safe Communities and the Clermont County Office of Public Information presented the fourth annual “Mocktails” event at the county’s medical social services building Dec. 2. This year’s mocktail mania event attracted eleven participants who all created a mocktail alternative to alcoholic beverages.

Surviving first grade was full of challenges

I was still struggling to tie my own shoes without knots and without having to tie them again in 15 minutes. I was six years old and ready for the world of first grade.
