Trojans and Eagles flatten opposing wrestling competition

Glen Este’s varsity wrestling squad took both sides of a triangular meet the Trojans hosted. The Purple and White defeated Princeton’s Vikings 44-33 and New Richmond 53-22. The Harrison Duals saw GE defeat Hamilton and Marysville.

Glen Este boys, Amelia girls expected to be best of all in the prep varsity bowling scene

Four Clermont County high schools, Amelia, Glen Este, Goshen, and Milford. have recently begun their respective campaigns in bowling. Leading the way will be Wes Lukemire, senior co-captain and four-year varsity team member, and Zac Vesting, junior co-captain, beginning his third year of varsity competition.

Ruben Willis honored by family and friends

Ruben Willis was proudly attended by his family at the dance that took place in his honor at Locust Corner Elementary. Willis was honored for his many years of hard work and dedication to the youth of New Richmond. Edmonson inducted into the Ohio Bowling Hall of Fame

Chuck Edmonson of Union Township was recently inducted into the Ohio Bowling Hall of Fame. “I am quite pleased. It is great to be inducted,” said the 67-year-old bowling veteran who has lived in Clermont County for 35 years. This is the third hall of fame into which Edmonson has been inducted. The other halls of honor are the Cincinnati Bowling Hall of Fame and the Greater Hamilton Bowling Hall of Fame.

Amelia girl cagers defeating Clermont County foes; Batavia, CNE, and ‘Burg also winning

Most of Clermont County’s high school varsity girls basketball teams are having a real tough time gaining some victories. The Barons won an intra-county, non-conference contest over visiting New Richmond 47-43. The Blue and White held quarter advantages of 13-9, 29-22, and 39-32. It was Amelia and new head coach Ken Nutter’s first victory.

Judith Sluder, 67

Judith Ann Long Sluder, 67, of Miami Township, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2008. Funeral services were held Dec. 23, at Trinity United Methodist Church.

Mary Hunt, 50

Mary L. Harding Hunt, 50, of Williamsburg, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2008. Visitation and funeral services were held Dec. 23 at E. C. Nurre Funeral Home, in Amelia. Interment at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

Marian J. Smith, 78

Marian Janet Smith, 78, of Milford, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, in Anderson Township. She was a homemaker. Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 11, at Evans Funeral Home, in Milford.

David Crowder, 75

David Gerald Crowder, 75, of the Withamsville Amelia area, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, in Batavia. He was a dump truck driver for Jerry Ritter. Funeral services were held at Evans Funeral Home in Milford.
