Bethel’s Midway Theater to reopen Friday, Nov. 21

The historic Midway Theater in Bethel will be reopening Nov. 21 under new management. Williamsburg resident Ken Aultz, who is a retired electrical engineer from Cincinnati Bell, leased the theater and finalized the deal with previous owner Debbie Brooks earlier last week.

It has been a long time since two Clermont County female cross country stars competed in the state championship meet at the same time. The last two were Tina DeMaris of Bethel-Tate, now the head girls cross country coach at Western Brown High School, and Danielle Greenwald of Clermont Northeastern.

UC Clermont volleyball team earns fifth place in national championship tournament

The University of Cincinnati Clermont College women’s volleyball team gained fifth place in the United States College Athletic Association National Championship Tournament that took place in Fort Wayne, Ind. In the opening round of Pool Play, the Cougars defeated Penn State – Fayette 25-16, 25-18, 25-14. In the second round, the Red and Black was set back by Spalding University (Louisville, Ky.) 25-17, 25-16, 25-13.

Lambert and Harrell set pace at close of cross country

Lance Lambert of Bethel-Tate was the first Clermont County male finisher in the Small School division of the Princeton Invitational. He completed the 3.1-mile course in 18-minutes, 56-seconds to earn second place overall.

Virginia Lee Meacham, 82

Virginia Lee Meachem, 82, of Milford, died Nov. 1, 2008. She was a seamstress. Funeral services were held Nov. 6 at the Evans Funeral Home. Burial followed at the Landmark Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Evendale.

Richard H. Brinkdopke, 56

Richard H. Brinkdopke, 56, of Milford, died Nov. 4, 2008. He was a stationary engineer at Duke Energy and a Vietnam War Army veteran. Funeral services were held Nov. 7 at the Arlington Memorial Gardens. Burial followed at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mt. Healthy.

Patricia Lou Perez, 66

Patricia Lou Perez, 66, of Hamersville, died Nov. 1, 2008. She was born on Sept. 15, 1942 in Hyden, Ky. Funeral services were held Nov. 6 at the Megie Funeral Home in Mt. Orab. Burial followed at the Bethel Tate Cemetery.

Paul K. VanWinkle, 62

Paul K. VanWinkle, 62, formerly of Bethel, died Nov. 5, 2008. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Funeral services were held Nov. 10 at the E.C. Nurre Funeral Home in Bethel.
