Batavia’s girls capture Southern Buckeye Conference National Division soccer crown
Batavia’s varsity girls soccer team captured its sixth consecutive Southern Buckeye Conference National Division crown. The Bulldogs concluded the current season with a 10-1-2 conference record and the Green and White was 12-4-2 overall.
Clermont Northeastern girls win Southern Buckeye American girls soccer championship
Clermont Northeastern won the Southern Buckeye Conference American Division girls soccer crown for the first time since the Rockets dominated the Clermont County high school girls soccer scene during the days of head coach Eddie Wells and his abundant talent. The Northeastern mentor impressed all with the results she achieved with her team in her first year of coaching at the high school varsity level.
Milford is champion of Fort Ancient Valley Conference Buckeye Division girls soccer
The varsity girls soccer team at Milford High School enjoyed great success this season including winning the Fort Ancient Valley Conference Buckeye Division championship. The E-Gals compiled a very impressive 16-2-1 overall record and the Red and White was 5-0 in division play. At one point they won 15 consecutive games.
Jon Callebs, New Richmond basketball coach, nears career 400 victory mark
His next win will be a biggie, the most any coach has ever recorded through an entire coaching career in Clermont County. Jon Callebs’ next victory as the head coach of the New Richmond Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team will be his 400th. He began his coaching career during the 1969-70 school year when he taught mathematics and physical education at Moscow Junior High School, enrollment-wise the smallest junior high school in Clermont County. His Yellow Jackets were 2-6. After four years at Moscow, Callebs became the seventh grade boys cage coach at New Richmond Junior High.

Dorotha Branham, 92, of Milford, died Nov. 19, 2008. She was a homemaker. Funeral services were held Nov. 22 at the Evans Funeral Home in Milford. Burial followed at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Milford.

Ida Louise Boots, 58, of Milford, died Nov. 22, 2008. She worked in circulation at the Cincinnati Enquirer. Funeral services were held Nov. 25 at the Evans Funeral Home. Burial followed at the Evergreen Cemetery in Miamiville.

Ferdinand L. Fite, 76, of Batavia, died Nov. 18, 2008. Graveside funeral services were held Nov. 21 at the Confidence Cemetery in Georgetown.

Cecil E. Young, 77, of Georgetown, died Nov. 20, 2008. Funeral services were held Nov. 24 at the E.C. Nurre Funeral Home in Bethel.
Ivan Eugene Bixler, 80
Ivan Eugene Bixler, 80, of Goshen Township, died Nov. 17, 2008. He was a union carpenter and a WWII navy veteran. Funeral services were held Nov. 21 at the Evans Funeral Home in Goshen.

Patricia Jane Roark, 73, of Williamsburg, died Nov. 19, 2008. Funeral services were held Nov. 22 at the E.C. Nurre Funeral Home in Bethel.
