Voters in the Clermont Northeastern school district will see a 5.8 mill bond issue on the Nov. 4 ballot.

If passed, Issue 23, a $26,200,000, 28-year bond issue, will help pay for new construction, renovations and additions to existing school facilities, improvements, and equipment, furnishings, and site improvements, all over the next 28 years.

The state of Ohio recently assessed the school facilities in the CNE school district and determined that all of the buildings are either in need of repair or total replacement.

The state has a repair and a replacement guideline of 67 percent, superintendent Neil Leist said.

“The Owensville Elementary school building was in the worst condition at 93 percent to cost to repair-replace,” Leist said. “The Board of Education then decided to ask the public to take this building out of service, build a new high school, and reassign the grade levels at the remaining buildings.”
