Foote is new New Richmond athletic director
Doug Foote is the new athletic director at New Richmond High School. He replaces Pat Hill who served at New Richmond for 35 years.
Foote is a local boy having grown up in Lynchburg, Highland County, Ohio. He is a 1977 graduate of Lynchburg-Clay High School where he participated on the Mustangs’ volleyball, basketball, and baseball teams.
Following his high school career, Foote furthered his education at Kentucky Christian College, Grayson, Ky., and Morehead State (Ky.) University where he earned degrees in psychology and physical education. He also competed in sports on the collegiate level.
He is coming to New Richmond and Clermont County from having been the varsity basketball coach at Marietta (Ohio) College where he coached the Pioneers for 15 years (he was also the head baseball coach for several years). He has been a basketball coach a total of 26 years.
"My wife and I are both from Lynchburg and we felt it was time to get back to this side of Ohio, that and I was tired and annoyed with recruiting," said Foote. He pointed out his family and his wife's family both still live in Lynchburg.
Foote and his wife, Nancy, are the parents of a 24-year old son, Derek.
"I like the sports program that New Richmond has. They have varsity and junior varsity teams in their sports and I like the fact that there will be a lot of student participation and commitment," said Foote. "It is a proven fact that students who participate in sports and other school extracurricular activities make better grades....
"I am really looking forward to coming to New Richmond. I don't mind the time and commitment needed to be an athletic director. I enjoy organizing and other duties of being an athletic director," he said.
