Deborah White has been named the new executive director of the Clermont Family YMCA.

White, who was introduced to the Clermont community in a meet and greet event held at the Batavia YMCA facility June 30, was chosen from a number of interested candidates after a nation-wide search to replace former director Whit Hickman.

“I am very excited to join the YMCA in Clermont County,” White said. “I look forward to fulfilling our mission of instilling Christian principles in all of our programs to build healthy spirits, minds, and bodies.”

As the executive director, White, who is also the CEO/Director of the Ross County YMCA, will be responsible for the overall management of the facility, and most importantly, she said, community relations.

"I am most looking forward to getting to know the people of this area," she said. "I am also excited about working with and being part of a large association - until now, I have only worked at independent YMCA's."

The non-profit Clermont Family YMCA, with more than 2,000 members, hired White, who lives in Chillicothe (she is originally from Maysville, Ky.), in May. She officially assumes her new role as executive director July 21.

YMCA office manager Erica Willis said that the staff is thrilled with the YMCA's board of volunteers decision to have White join the leadership team.

"She has already proven herself to be an empowering presence," Willis said. "She will be a great coach for all of us."

The Clermont Family YMCA, serving the Clermont County area for more that 20 years, is committed to building character, one kid at a time. For more than 150 years, the YMCA organization has been developing character in children, their families, and the communities in which they are located.

Clermont YMCA, located at 2075 Front Wheel Drive in Batavia, has a health and fitness center, a 25-yard indoor swimming pool, a 50 meter, 10 lane outdoor pool, a preschool wading pool, full size gymnasium, athletic fields, ann indoor/outdoor walking track, free child watch, free land and aquatic fitness classes, licensed day care, and a summer day camping area.
