Joseph E. Schultz, 85, of Amelia, died June 5, 2008. He was the retired owner of the Amelia Poultry Farm and a WWII Merchant Marine veteran. Funeral services were held June 14 at the St. Bernadette Church in Amelia.

Nancy A. Ostendorf

Nancy A. (nee Bolender) Ostendorf died June 5, 2008. Funeral services were held June 9 at the St. Veronica Church. Burial followed at the Monroe Township Cemetery.

Ludemy E. Lyman, 89

Ludemy E. Lyman, 89, of Mt. Orab, died June 2, 2008. Funeral services were held June 5 at the E.C. Nurre Funeral Home in Bethel. Interment followed at the Tate Township Cemetery.

Leroy Millard Hughes, 93, of Goshen Township, died June 4, 2008. He was a mechanical engineer and a Navy veteran. Funeral services were held June 7 at the Evans Funeral Home in Goshen.

Samuel Bernard Wise, 83

Samuel Bernard Wise, 83, of Milford, died June 8, 2008. He was a manager at General Electric and a WWII Army veteran. Funeral services were held June 11 at the Evans Funeral Home in Milford.

Jeanette Ruby Foster, 74

Jeanette Ruby Foster, 74, of Miami Township, died June 5, 2008. She was in manufacturing at the Avon Corporation. Funeral services were held June 9 at the Evans Funeral Home in Milford.

Mary Jean Snider, 67

Mary Jean Snider, 67, of Owensville, died June 5, 2008. She was an office manager for the insurance industry. Funeral services were held June 10 at the St. Louis Church.

Company is doing its part to help others

The Kramer Myers Insurance Company in Batavia is collecting food and money for the YWCA food pantry. The employees and the thousands of customers at the 48-year-old company have already generously donated a full barrel of canned goods and almost $170 in cash.

Capital budget includes money for communications center expansion

The Ohio State House of Representatives has passed House Bill 562, the capital budget bill for the state, which will provide $120 million in funds for the community and infrastructure projects across the state.
