Two weeks after returning from their first tour of duty in Iraq, brothers-in-arms – and brothers-in-law – Michael Ormes and Christopher Hurley were honored by the Clermont County commissioners June 11.

“The welcome home that we have received has left me in awe,” U.S. Army specialist Ormes said. “I really cannot say ‘thank you’ enough. It is very heartwarming and nice to have this kind of support within the community.”

Twenty-year-old Ormes, a New Richmond High School graduate, enlisted in the Army reserves in 2005 because his grandfather was in the Army and he wanted to serve his country.

“I said whichever branch calls me first to serve my country is where I would serve,” Ormes said. “The Army called first, and I immediately answered.”
