New Richmond’s boys track and field team has been having a good year under the leadership of coach Jon Brandyberry.

“We been very successful. We’ve won the Bethel, Goshen, and Blanchester invitationals,” said Brandyberry.

“We’ve got a good nucleus of kids who’ve been with us for two or three years and we have some good freshmen.”

The Lions’ standouts have been junior Steve Gantzer in the sprints, relays, and long jump, junior Josh Daniels in the pole vault (13-foot personal best this season) and he also has done well in the high hurdles, long jump, and relays, sophomore Andrew Nealan in sprints and relays, sophomore John Berwanger in the relays and high jump, senior Nick Manning in the discus, senior Kody McCormick in the shot put, freshman Timmy Hall in distances, and freshman Miles Derkson in the hurdles. Ben Werle and Luke Sexon are standout seniors among a good group of pacesetters.
