Glen Este has been the winningest of Clermont County’s high school varsity baseball squads. Bethel-Tate, Batavia, and Milford have also performed well and tacked on a couple of victories apiece.

Batavia is 7-2 overall and 6-1 in the Southern Buckeye Conference National Division.

“Offensively we are just amazing. We have a .387 team average,” said Bulldog head coach Brian Lyons.

“We are getting very good at bats.”

Sophomore Kris Hecktor is hitting .680 and has 11 runs batted in (RBI) and 13 runs scored to his credit. Senior Matt Beitman is hitting .556, sophomore Ryan Anstaett .455 (11 RBI), junior J. D. Little .435 (nine RBI), and senior Ryan Beard .348.

Defensively, Lyons lauded his entire squad, but did mention junior Eric Roberts for his “so valuable” all positions play. Little has been superb behind the plate and junior rightfielder Ryan Goldbach has been outstanding.
