Batavia emerged a victor the most in the opening games of Clermont County’s high school varsity tennis season. Bethel-Tate, Milford, and New Richmond have also been recent winners.

“They’ve been playing really well and they’re getting better,” said Milford boys tennis coach Jeff Hoover of his Eagles who are 5-4 overall and 3-1 in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference Buckeye Division.

Senior first singles Andrew Bunker owns a personal record of 8-1, junior second singles Kevin Rogers is 6-3, junior third singles Kyle Duffy is 6-3, the first doubles of senior Nate Marchant and sophomore Gil Marchant is 5-4, and the second doubles of junior Nolan Salazar and freshman Wagner is 5-3.

Hoover has his team focusing on the teams he considers his biggest obstacles in the conference, Anderson and Loveland.
