An estimated 3,000 visitors attended the annual open house at Grant’s Farm and Nursery April 19-20.
“We hold the open house at both locations every year because we want to show our appreciation to all those in the community who support us,” said owner Danny Grant. “This year, the open house was perfect.”
Contributing to that perfection was the cooperative weather, unlike years past, Grant said.
“Thankfully, it did not rain,” Grant said. “The event just gets bigger and bigger every year. The first year we started offering the open house, we didn’t even bring out a cash register.”
Grant's specializes in flowers, plants, bedding, mulch, herbs, and trees. Shown here is one of the more than 30 green houses at the nursery.
For the green thumb in all of us, both greenhouse and garden locations offer customers a wide variety of diverse gardening needs, including plants, flowers, bedding, herbs, and trees; all comfortably sprawled across many acres (and more than 30 greenhouses).
Last weekend's open house offered a 20 percent discount on all purchases, awarded door prizes every half hour, and complimentary refreshments and food.
Grant said that his staff, and the family business employs 25 people, served 1,800 hot dogs, 90 doughnuts, countless burgers, brats, and metts, and this year they even cooked a 240 lb. hog (which was consumed by visitors in under three hours).
Grant's have been holding the customer appreciation open houses for more than 20 years.
"Everyone always has a good time," Grant said. "It is an opportunity for people, including myself, to see others that they have not seen in years. It is a fun way to start the Spring, which puts everyone in a better mood."
Grant thanked all of his customers and volunteers who have helped with the open house and for the support shown over the years.
"I appreciate everyone's business," he said.
The Grant's locations are open 365 days a year, seven days a week from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
