Foster care informational meetings planned

In a concentrated effort to fill the need for foster parents in the county, the Clermont County Department of Job and Family Services has scheduled a series of informational meeting sessions. Ashley Thompson of Clermont County Children’s Services said that the need for foster parents has dramatically increased due to the more and more children coming into foster care in the county every day.

LEAD Clermont leading the push for Clermont historical center

The LEAD Clermont initiative of Clermont 20/20 is devoting efforts to having an official historical center placed in Clermont County. LEAD Clermont, in recent focus groups and other evaluation community meetings, has determined that the time is long overdue for Clermont County, which has 14 historical societies, to have an official historical center, said LEAD Clermont committee member Brad Toft.

Humphrey wins Republican primary contest

In the hotly contested race to run as the republican candidate for Clermont County Commissioner, Miami Township Trustee Ed Humphrey emerged, in the end, the winner. The seat, held by current commissioner Mary Walker, was torn in a four-way race between Walker, Humphrey and Archie Wilson and Melvin Dean.

Alternative Care Center demonstrated

Visitors to Mercy Hospital Clermont February 28 may have seen what appeared to be a grand camp out in the parking lot, but the enormous tent operating at the facility has nothing to do with smores or ghost stories. The Alternative Care Center, a massive tent hospital complex, was demonstrated last week at Mercy Clermont, to let people know what is available should a disaster strike.

Expansion, new facilities planned at Mt. Moriah Cemetery

As ground is being prepared to expand the interment facilities at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Union Township, plans are being finalized to improve the landmark’s facilities for the living. The Heritage Memorial Park, which will be located in the southwest corner of the cemetery, will be two acres of parkland designed to give visitors a place to gather, relax and enjoy a little ceremony from time to time.
