Bethel’s first village administrator, Michael Shiverski, resigned suddenly last week to “pursue other interests,” said councilwoman Donna Gunn.

Shiverski, who accepted the position as administrator just over two years ago, tendered his resignation on March 3.

Nearly three years ago, the village council voted to move from the old system of operation involving a board of public affairs to a more streamlined administrator system. Shiverski was picked by the board in that search to become the village’s first administrator. Gunn said that both the first administrator and the new system performed to expectations.

“He was the first administrator we had, so he’s paved the road for whoever is here from here on out,” said Gunn. “I think, overall, we’ve liked it. We need to find a suitable individual, and take it to a higher level.”
