The message and the state law are clear – buckle up for safety.

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers are holding a safety belt enforcement blitz this month.

The troopers are conducting the enforcement blitz during the month of March because it tends to be a month when everything, especially outdoor sports and activities, gets back into the full swing of things, said State Highway Patrol Batavia Post Commander Randy McElfresh.

“We are holding the blitz because daily, troopers on patrol are looking for traffic violations that have been shown to have crashes which result in serious injury or death,” McElfresh said. “Unfortunately, we often find that the driver or passenger is not properly restrained.”

Therefore, the Ohio State troopers, in an effort to save lives in the county, are having the blitz to promote, educate, and hopefully increase the compliance rate in Clermont County as much as possible.
