Clermont County dominated the sectional bowling tournaments for both boys and girls. Glen Este’s boys and Milford’s girls earned their respective sectional championship crowns.

The Trojans’ Dustin Brinson and Amelia’s Amber Kellerman captured the individual sectional championship honors.

Glen Este

Glen Este won the boys division that displayed not only the talent of the Trojans, but was completely controlled by other members of their own Fort Ancient Valley Conference. Following Glen Este, in order, were Wilmington’s Hurricanes, Anderson’s Redskins, and Amelia’s Barons in a very close-fought confrontation.

The Trojans amassed 3942 points.

Brinson, a junior, was way in front of his nearest competition. He bowled a 712 at Mason Bowl where the tournament took place. His teammates registered good totals, too – senior co-captain Ryan Leinberger 587, senior co-captain Kyle Barrett 566, junior Mike Jones 553, and freshman Jaek Peznickak 548.

“They have been coming along. They’re good. They have such raw natural talent,” said coach Kathy DeMarko of her champions. “It was very exciting to watch them. They are definitely peaking right now.”

Coach DeMarko feels certain her squad will be in good shape for years to come. She boasted of a talented group of ninth graders.

“Even with losing our good seniors, we’ll have Dustin back and three amazing freshmen – (Jaek) Paz, Zac Hayes, and Paul Hudson.”
