Nutrition specialists with Milford schools are hoping to promote their healthier cafeteria fare with a little fun.

A nutrition fair will be held on March 5 at Seipelt Elementary School from 6:30 – 8 p.m., and will be designed around promoting a healthy lifestyle while having a little fun.

“We received a mini grant from the Ohio Department of Education for $300,” said nutrition coordinator Jessica Pedrick. “The only stipulation was we had to promote the new ‘My Pyramid.’ We’ll have 10 booths focusing on the pyramid. Four will focus on physical activities, and will be like a carnival game. The other six will each highlight one section of the pyramid. To do extra, we’ve invited community proprietors who have jobs related to nutrition, health or safety. They will come in and promote what we do. We have booths like Jazzercise, Meyer Dairy, who provides our milk for the lunch program. We have some information from Meijer grocery stores, and we’ve invited the Miami Township fire, police and EMS. We have a ton of people coming from the community.”
