For a very brief period of time Clermont County’s varsity girls basketball teams played without gaining one victory.

Glen Este played against the toughest competition and Amelia was skimmed in an overtime heartbreaker.

The Trojans competed in the Greater Columbus area in the All-Ohio Prep Shootout losing two games opposite state-recognized competition.

The Purple and White lost to Toledo Notre Dame 54-47.

Glen Este was ahead 16-10 after the first quarter of action, but fell behind 29-24 and 39-35 at the next two breaks.

Jaime Hamlet, a junior guard, powered the Purple offense with 22 points (including a couple of three-pointers) and Moriah Hodge, a junior forward, poured in 16 points.

Hilliard Darby also took the measure of GE with a 50-44 tally.

The Trojans gained a 24-20 lead at halftime and were still ahead 32-31 at the conclusion of the third quarter, but failed to hand onto the advantage. Glen Este was behind 12-9 after the first quarter of play.

This time Hamlet scorched the nets by recording five three-pointers to help her gain her a total of 21 points and Hodge contributed 11 more points to the Clermont countians’ cause.
