Batavia Township will begin to look more closely at parking habits in developments around the township.

After meeting with a concerned citizen, the township trustees are considering a requirement for developers that make placing no parking signs in cul-de-sacs mandatory. The decision comes after learning of some issues caused by residents using these turnarounds as a place to park.

“We had a discussion with our local deputy sheriff because we’ve been experiencing some parking problems in our cul-de-sac,” said resident Christine Righter. “Our home is directly in the cul-de-sac, and the parking problem is a pretty recent phenomenon. About three months ago, people in our neighborhood started parking in the circle. Some issues that’s started to occur because of this, school bus drivers are having problems turning around. We’ve also noticed that snow plows are having problems maneuvering around the vehicles, and Rumpke started to place notes on people’s cars because of their difficulty in picking up trash.”
