No harm was intended by a Williamsburg kindergarten teacher who sent students home with prescription pill bottles filled with M&M’s after holding a class career day at the elementary school.

Several concerned parents contacted the school when their children brought home the distributed candy-filled pill bottles whose make-shift labels read ‘take as needed for yummies in the tummies.’

“The career day was an event with the best intentions,” said Williamsburg superintendent Jeff Weir. “But bad decisions were made; we have done everything reasonable and possible to clarify what happened to the students and the parents.”

The career day was an initiative that the kindergarten teacher started and hoped would be a relevant and worthwhile assignment. Parents were asked to send in items and information with their children to the classroom in order to educate the students about different vocations.
