Students in the ecological and cultural diversity class at the Felicity-Franklin High School are currently trying to raise money to fund a trip to Costa Rica this summer.

The ecological and cultural diversity independent study class, which is a new gifted program elective class offered to the high school students this year, will culminate with a nine-day trip to Costa Rica.

The 10 students enrolled in the class each need $2,000 to cover the expenses for the trip, the class needs to raise $20,000 by the end of March or the trip will have to be postponed.

“The students will be travelling to Costa Rica to study the country’s culture, ecology, and geography,” said Felicity-Franklin gifted intervention specialist Renee King. “This is an exciting opportunity for the students – we are hoping that through our fund-raisers planned, we can raise enough money to go.”
