Members of the West Clermont Education Association, having arrived at an impasse over school district contract negotiations, all stood unified in solidarity at the West Clermont Board of Education’s regular meeting Jan. 14.

Several hundred teachers, non-certified employees, and contracted service provider members in the WCEA attended the meeting to show the board of education that they were united behind the five-person team which has been attempting to negotiate school districts contracts since August of last year.

“We are all here to show the board that their representatives are not only negotiating with five people,” said WCEA president Donna Zuccala. “There is a multitude of people standing behind those five people who are negotiating on our behalf.”

The WCEA is asking the board for a pay increase, to maintain the insurance benefits as they stand (especially not losing any), and for some changes in the contract’s language.
