A Union Township business may take more than a slice of the pie after being granted a tax abatement by the township board of trustees. Slice of Stainless, a company dealing with relatively raw material in the stainless steel business, is planning to expand the scope of their business plan, thanks to the abatement.

“This is a tax abatement resolution,” said Union Township administrator Doug Walker. “Slice of Stainless is located on Seabrook Way in Union Township and they’ve requested a tax abatement on their new 21,000 square foot addition. This project will retain 13 full-time positions and create nine new ones.”

The expansion would add an additional $180,000 in payroll to the company, and result in about three quarters of a million dollar in expansion costs. Todd Reed and Robin Tackett co-preside over the company, which they began in 1992.

“Thanks for giving us the opportunity to apply for this abatement,” said Reed. “It would help us to grow in the future, and get to the next level.”
