The Williamsburg School District is considering an initiative to renew an existing emergency operating levy.

The Williamsburg Schools Levy Committee has scheduled an informational meeting in the Middle/High School auditoria to discuss the district’s initiative at 7 p.m. Jan. 23. All parents, community members, and interested parties are invited to attend.

The emergency operating levy proposal will continue the current levy that is due to expire in 2009 through the year 2014 at its current rate plus .63 mill of additional revenue, said Williamsburg School District superintendent Jeff Weir.

“The funds generated through the existing as well as the proposed levy are applied to the district’s maintenance costs, utilities costs, transportation costs, and the purchase of instructional supplies and materials.”
