The Village of Williamsburg is banking that residents are desiring to see their names set in stone, or at least in brick. An ambitious revitalization project for the main street area is in the works, and interested parties can help out, one brick at a time.

“We’re selling pavers in conjunction with the paver design program, so people can buy a memorial brick or a brick for their family,” said Williamsburg Administrator Patti Bates. “They can be placed on Main Street around the light poles as part of this project.”

When finished, the project is hoped to create an almost new main street environment, replacing everything from the pavement to the sidewalks.

“The project is a main street streetscape project that the village is undertaking,” said Bates. “It goes out to bid in April. That will redo all of main street from Broadway to the bridge. It will be new curbs, gutters and street plantings, lights, which will have a paver design around them.”
