Farrell Inc. Accounting opens in Eastgate

What started with the $300 sale of three calves and only one client has turned into a successful family accounting enterprise.

Farrell Inc., a local accounting/bookkeeping firm, has grown over the last 37 years to the point where it has now expanded out of Brown County and has recently opened up a new office in the Eastgate area.

Family business founder Connie Farrell said that she when she started the accounting business in 1970 (from the profits of selling three calves off her family’s Hamersville farm), she never dreamed that it would have grown the way that it has.

“It makes me feel very proud, blessed, and humble to be able to work with my family every day,” she said.

When Connie’s daughter Elaine was a little girl, Connie Farrell noticed that she would be “down on the floor doing and sorting through my bookkeeping.”

Inspired by that, Connie founded the Bethel-based company Farrell Bookkeeping in 1970. After Connie became certified as an Internal Revenue Service enrolled agent in 1983, the company, which was growing rapidly, moved to Georgetown and changed its name to Farrell and Associates in 1984.

In Jan. 2005, the company incorporated, and became known as Farrell Incorporated. In Dec. 2007, Farrell Inc. expanded into the Eastgate area to provide a second location.

Connie said that as "the company continues to grow, it remains a family operated business with three generations currently involved - all continually striving to provide optimal customer service."

Expanding to the new Eastgate store, which is located at 978 Old St. Rt. 74, was a "step of faith" for the business, said business manager and Connie's daughter-in-law Amy Farrell (the wife of Connie's son Troy).

"I am from the Eastgate area," Amy said. "I graduated from Amelia and have watched this area grow and grow. We have many clients that live out this way and now we are closer to them - so the expansion seemed like a win-win situation for everyone."

Self-described as 'blue-jean accountants,' the Farrell family prides themselves on their personable and friendly service.

"We treat our clients like family," said Matthew Farrell. "We want everyone to feel comfortable when they walk into our two locations. They are not standing in line, waiting to be seen. Nowadays, people do not have time to worry about taxes, so we do it for them."

In addition to providing payroll services, tax preparation, and accounting/bookkeeping, Farrell Inc. offers a unique and convenient drop-off service at the new Eastgate location. After a brief interview, customers can simply drop off their income tax information with a telephone number; the family firm does the rest.

Troy Farrell, who said that the family gets along and there is never tension or quarrels in the work environment, wants to assure the Brown County clients that the new location in Clermont will not take away from the quality service provided those clients.

"We all have our own little niche in the business, but we are all together working as one to provide the best quality service for our clients, both in Georgetown and now Eastgate," he said. "For the Farrell family, accounting is in the blood."

Farrell Inc. is located at 978 Old St. Rt. 74 in the Eastgate area, (513) 753-6757, and in Georgetown, 205 W. State Street (937) 378-6757.
