A ‘Sensitive Santa’ visited the village of Amelia over the Christmas holiday.
Held at the Amelia Public Library Dec. 22, the invitation-only event was a chance for developmentally challenged children and their families to experience a fun and stress-free visit with Santa Claus.
Amelia mayor Mike Scharf said that the event was a way for the village to reach out to those special needs children to enjoy some time with Santa without the stress of large crowds, long lines, and limited time.
“That’s what this was all about, just giving back to the needy children in the community,” the mayor said.
