The Union Township Board of Trustees voted Dec. 11 to continue collaboration efforts with various local agencies to improve infrastructure and economic development efforts in the township and county.

Union Township Administrator Doug Walker presented several proposals to the township which involved collaboration with other entities, most of which have been in effect for the past year or so, which he said were important to continue.

“This next item is to reimburse the county engineer’s office for work done at the Ivy Pointe commerce park,” said Walker. “The trustees agreed to participate in the tax increment financing and the joint economic development district with the county engineer to construct the infrastructure for Ivy Pointe.”

Ivy Pointe is an office park area of the township which was created through a joint effort of several entities. Last year, the county announced plans for the land, which was purchased by the county and marketed to businesses. The commerce park currently houses its first tenant, the shipping logistics company TQL.
