The Batavia Planning and Zoning Board and the Village Association of Batavia, which met with approximately 25 village residents at a public meeting Dec. 18, have finalized the design guidelines and are almost ready to submit them to village council for final approval.

After an Oct. 16 public meeting, where many residents expressed opposition to what they considered to be restrictive and unfair guidelines, the design guidelines were amended and changed in an effort to make them more palatable to residents and Main Street business owners.

Taking into account the suggestions from the public at that meeting, and then making changes to the guidelines, the revised copies were presented to the public Dec. 18, but some residents are still adamantly opposed.

Leading the opposition at the meeting was Market Street resident Kelly Wright.
