The cold and the rain could not deter the hundreds of people who came out to watch and enjoy Amelia’s annual holiday Christmas parade Dec. 9.
2007 marks the 27th year that the annual holiday parade has taken place in the village; then, as now, the Christmas parade was the dream of Amelia resident Elaine Dietrich.
In her 80’s, and officially retiring from organizing the event a couple of years ago, Dietrich is still involved in all of the preparations.
“How can you not love a parade?” she asks. “I still get a kick out of being involved with the parade. I am especially proud of how it has grown over the years.”
