Ash borer workshops aimed at detection and prevention
The Ohio Department of Agriculture is hoping to slow the spread of a deadly tree parasite, and to that end has scheduled two emerald ash borer workshops in Clermont County for Nov. 8.
Holman Chevy closes Bethel location after 18 years
A Bethel landmark has closed its doors, leaving many to wonder what will replace the Holman General Motors dealership. The satellite dealership for the Holman family dealership business closed last week after nearly 18 years of business in the community.
Counseling center plans fair
The Clermont Counseling Center (CCC) in Amelia is holding a Health and Wellness Fair Nov. 6. The second annual health fair, which is free and open to the community, is the Clermont Counseling Center’s way of addressing the physical well-being of all residents who live in Clermont County and to also focus on the physical needs of its patients with mental illness.
Crisis Pregnancy Center seeking fall donations
The Crisis Pregnancy Center in Amelia is encouraging the community to donate good used winter clothing for distribution to its hundreds of clients. Last year alone, more than 1,000 women came through the shelter seeking help.
Clough Pike Elementary fair a hit with kids
The Clough Pike Elementary School held its fifth annual Fall Festival Oct. 27. According to PTO Fall Festival Chairperson Mae Hanna, the event raised close to $17,000 in funds, a total that far surpasses what the festival made last year. All funds raised at the festival will go directly back into the school and to the kids in the classrooms, principal Crahan said.
Williamsburg volleyball; Batavia and Milford boys soccer are county’s sectional tourney pacesetters
Tournament competition is all over the place for Clermont County’s varsity volleyball, girls soccer, and boys soccer teams.
Cross country prep scene will be growing and changing in Clermont County’s near future
Clermont County’s high school varsity cross country teams have completed their respective conference championship runs of late and this was recently followed in the next weekend by the sectional races.
Goshen is SBC-A champ; NR and ‘Burg win
Goshen, New Richmond, and Williamsburg were Clermont County’s only winners in Week Nine of the high school varsity football season. Goshen (8-1) further secured its claim to a berth in the Division II state football playoffs with a convincing 55-0 victory over visiting Clermont Northeastern (1-8) in a Southern Buckeye Conference American (SBC-A) Division game.
