Two members of the Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol were recognized recently by their coworkers because of the effort they put into their work.

Trooper Christopher Krantz and Dispatcher Ron Newman were each selected by coworkers as trooper and dispatcher of the year respectively.

Lt. Randy McElfresh said that the recognition effort revolves around employees honoring those they work with.

“In October of every year, there is a balloting process that comes from our strategic services division in Columbus,” said Lt. McElfresh. “Everyone is given a ballot, including myself. Everybody votes based on eligibility to select the trooper of the year and dispatcher of the year. Trooper Krantz and dispatcher Newman will be representatives of the Batavia Post, and the posts in our district will send their post winners to a district competition. The district winner goes to the state level for state trooper and dispatcher of the year.”
