Mary Shelley is undoubtedly turning over and smiling in her grave.

Drawing unearthly inspiration from Mary Shelley’s renowned novel ‘Frankenstein,’ the senior class at Batavia High School had the opportunity to design and then build creatures based upon the novel’s description of Victor Frankenstein’s gruesome creation.

After reading and studying the ‘Frankenstein’ novel in English Literature class, nine small groups of seniors built the frightening looking creatures and displayed them in the school’s cafeteria for all to see and enjoy Oct. 31.

“We have asked the senior students to do this every Halloween for the past seven years,” said Batavia High School English literature teacher Andrea Conner. “It has become an annual tradition here at the high school – and the students (and staff) love it.”
